 Clutch disc (clutch lining) malfunctions.

 – Corroded lining:
Measure the thickness of the pad above the rivets on the clutch disc using a dipstick. The thickness of the lining above the rivets must be at least 3 mm, and if the thickness of the lining is less than 3 mm, the clutch disc must be replaced.

 – Glossy surface polishing:
Check the clutch disc lining to see if it is shiny. The lining is shiny in a clutch disc with a shiny surface, and this is a result of clutch slippage and heat. The clutch disc with a shiny polished surface must be replaced because it causes the clutch to slip.

 – Oil on the lining:
Look for traces of oil on the clutch disc lining, noting that the oil appears in the form of old dark areas on the lining. Oil may leak into the clutch assembly from the gearbox or engine. If there is oil on the clutch disc lining, it must be replaced because it cannot be cleaned of oil, and the presence of oil leads to the clutch disc slipping.

 – Curved disc:
Place a 16mm diameter round piece on the clutch disc hoop, rotate the disc and observe the outer edge. The disc should not wave from side to side. If it does, it means it is bent and must be replaced.
